San Diego Watercolor Society Art Exhibition at the Airport
July 22, 2008The San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) has been selected by San Diego Regional Airport Authority to be a part of the airport’s rotating cultural exhibits program. The SDWS exhibit, in the lower level of Terminal Two, just east of the baggage terminal, is on display through January 12, 2009 and is free to the public. The 15 original plein air paintings, all by SDWS members, are gorgeous interpretations of San Diego locations from Coronado to Little Italy to Carlsbad and are meant to educate viewers about art while reflecting the rich cultural diversity of San Diego. The display also includes a typical watercolor painter’s on-location set-up, including paints, easel, sketchbook, and sun hat, and painting-in-progress, set in a clever photographic diorama of the NTC Promenade.
Artists specially curated into this exhibition are all San Diego Watercolor Society members. Included in the exhibit are:
- First Tour of the Day by Julie Anderson
- The Blackbird (San Diego Aerospace Museum) by Jay Andrews
- Point Loma Light by Gordon Bashant
