The NTC Promenade was proud to host the California Arts Council Grant Awards Presentation yesterday at the beautiful Malashock Dance Studio at Dance Place San Diego. State Senator Christine Kehoe, Assemblymembers Lori Saldana and Mary Salas, and Mayor Jerry Sanders joined the president of the California Arts Council, to honor 18 San Diego county arts organizations and highlight the quality work and service they give to promote art in schools and our community.
Over $170,000 in awards were granted including two residents of the NTC Promenade, Malashock Dance & Company and San Diego Ballet under the “Artist in Schools Program” category. “These California Arts Council grantees work hard to bring the arts to San Diego-many for children who otherwise might not have access to the arts,” said Muriel Johnson, president of the California Arts Council. Attendees were treated to a new duet dance production performance by members of the Malashock Dance & Company.
