The San Diego Business Journal this week has a story about the recent national honor given to Liberty Station by the Association of Defense Communities. Liberty Station was named the ADC’s 2007 Base Redevelopment Community of the Year. Here’s an excerpt from the Business Journal’s story.
“The Liberty Station development is an excellent example of community involvement in the base reuse planning process, as well as an effective partnership between a city agency and a private developer,” said Paul Kalomiris, executive director of the Association of Defense Communities. “Defense communities experiencing closure from the 2005 BRAC round can view Liberty Station as a model for their work to turn closing military assets to successful economic drivers.”
